Why are Tesla Megapacks selling like hot cakes?

According to Tesla, its stock of energy storage battery system, for utility use called Megapack, could run out within the next two years.

Victim of its success with many companies and companies, Tesla’s Megapack stocks are drying up at high speed. Tesla must redouble its efforts to meet strong demand.

What is the Megapack?

As a reminder, the Tesla Megapack was launched in 2019 after the two previous models which are the Powerwall and the Powerpack.

The Megapack is a 3 MWh battery system the size of a container containing several modules, inverters and a thermal system to regulate temperature. According to Tesla, the Megapack contains up to 60% more energy than its predecessor, the Powerpack. In terms of dimensions, the Megapack is larger.

This energy storage system quickly found its audience, and it quickly became the main system used across public services. Its large capacity and characteristics allow services to better manage renewable energies while stabilizing supply on the electricity network.

With a view to always offering more, the capacity of these Tesla Megapacks should increase to 3.9 MWhfor deliveries scheduled from third quarter of 2024.

Thanks to the Nevada Gigafactory, Tesla works at a breakneck pace, managing to produce 42 Megapacks per week. With the imminent arrival of the new California Gigafactory, Tesla hopes to produce the equivalent of 40 GWh of Megapacks per year. this is the equivalent of deploying all the energy storage systems created by Tesla Energy since its creation in just 3 months. However, Elon Musk’s firm will have to wait another 20 months before taking advantage of the full production capacity of its factories.

Tesla’s energy storage systems are highly efficient, leading to a significant increase in demand. In order to support this constantly evolving market, Tesla has decided to invest in manufacturing factories. The brand hopes to be able to meet growing demand over the next two years.
